This morning, Steve (Rim)Jobs announced the iPad (they will be releasing th MAXiPad next year) and mac faggots aronud the world rejoiced. But why? What can IT do that my netbook can’t? Nothing. Except for the app store, but if I wanted to pay for my shit, I would have bought an iPod long ago. My netbook is cheaper, runs actual desktop operating systems (the iPad only runs a modified iPhone software), and has more space. Even my ZuneHD does more than the iPad.
With that said. iPad, go fuck yourself.

I do agree that open sourced software is great, but you have to remember, not everyone is computer savvy and therefore not everyone can use Linux or other Os’s like Ubuntu. Good comment though, Open source is freedom.

The customizability of the Mac is far lower than that of Windows or Linux. Obviously Jobs knows that you are idiots and presents all users with an easy choice: Have money or have a computer that can only do what he (Jobs) allows you to.
Buying a Mac (around $3000) is the even more expensive than building the fastest PC on the market.

Bought iPad 2 a couple of weeks ago.
Returned it after three days for a refund.
Why? Because it wasn’t good enough at any of the things it purported to be intended for. It was a hopeless e-reader – nasty glare, poor resolution, the Kindle is MUCH better for that task – and a lousy web browser. The latter was almost amazingly bad – aside from the resolution being too poor to read comfortably at a standard reading distance for a handheld device (i.e. 9 – 18 inches), the thing that shocked me the most was the lack of support for multi-finger gestures. I thought the iPad was supposed to be all ABOUT swiping things around nicely? But it didn’t even support the three-fingered forward/back swipe that the MacBook does. How can the iPad be much worse as a touch device than a conventional laptop? That’s right, the MacBook is far nicer as a finger-controlled browsing device.
So what is the iPad FOR if it can’t even do these basic things well? Maybe it would make an expensive digital photo frame or a huge weather app display or something.
On the plus side, I quite liked Angry Birds.

Having just found this today, and having a day to play about with an iPad. I couldn’t agree more. Working in design and publishing I’m actually sick to death of people asking “will in work on an iPad”.
Even Javascript barely performs on these things, any animation is terrible. Oh an how are big brands getting round not being able to use Flash? Exporting Flash files as movies instead. Well done Apple, that’ll be why the average magazine is 800mb.
On a separate note no-one has figured out magazines for iPad (or any tablet) yet. Huge restrictions no matter what you do.
Urr Flash is practically redundant. HTML5 will knock it out of the water, what with flash being power hungry and limited by comparison. I own an iPad and I use it for what it’s good at, not in some attempt to replace my laptop. Just like Apple and PC you get what you want for the right purpose and thats the fucking end of it – neither is better or worse so long as YOU made the right choice. I will say however if you want a portable device then the iPad is by far superior to it’s rivals and those who disagree are welcome to, even if no doubt there will be some who disagree because they are either a. ignorant, b. predjudice, or c. just some cnt who likes pressing buttons.

Ah, Option C, interesting. Firstly if 30% of sites use flash, that does not mean 30% of web content is missing. :PRat! Secondly this isn’t a cry for html5, more a boo for flash. It, like any other tablet is designed to fill the gap – and by all means pick apart the tablet genre. It is amazing how people defend something with programmed responses such as – “that is not what it was designed to do” – I suppose they are correct though, as the iPad seems to be solely “designed” to siphon money from the pockets of its “followers”.

I feel bad for people who are uninformed and purchase Mac products because they look cool. I feel bad because these people are soccer moms and teenagers, and obviously they’re buying what they see on TV and want to impress their friends (much like the “Human CentiPad” episode of South Park). I had a friend who spent his college loan refunds on a Macbook Pro, 13″, and he used to tell me all of the great things he liked about it…and then I purchased a new Acer laptop for half the price with a 15″ screen and faster processor. Yes, the Apple loads quicker (based on the OSX tech in the operating system), but I would rather wait up to 5 minutes more and enjoy a standard computer experience then constantly wait for apps that support plug-in tech on the internet and in different programs. IPad is an expensive, shiny paperweight.
